The School Day
Each day at Odyssey is filled with a variety of activities and routines designed to facilitate children’s physical, social, cognitive and emotional development. Arrival time is between 7.00am and 9.00am. Breakfast is served from 8.00am to 9.00am every morning. Children who have finished breakfast or are not taking breakfast are encouraged to enjoy indoor and outdoor freechoice activities such as bicycle play, balls, hoola hoops, sand play, art, music, puzzles, blocks, doll house, puppets or sociodramatic play at the home corner.
A Toddler’s class begins each day with circle time; a large group activity that lasts 15 to 30 minutes. Freechoice and outdoor times are periods where Toddlers actively explore, discover, and play indoors and outdoors. Curriculum activities involving children in project work, sensory and tactile explorations, manipulation of materials, art, music, cookery and outdoor learning experiences, are typically planned for 15 to 20 minutes. There is always an allocation of 10 minutes interval time for transition and cleaning up in between activities.

Half day children will leave after clean up time from 12.00pm onwards. At this time, children who are staying for the full day will have their shower, milk and nap. Afternoon activities start with an afternoon snack followed by curriculum activities which run from 4.00pm to 5.00pm.
