About Make-A-Wish® Singapore

Make-A-Wish® Singapore is an affiliate of a global organisation which began in 1980.  Today, there are 36 affiliates worldwide. Their mission is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

It is their goal to grant a wish to every medically eligible child in Singapore.  Since their launch they have granted over 550 magical wishes.

The aim of Make-A-Wish is to go beyond the mere delivery of each child’s wish.  They strive to create an unforgettable and meaningful experience in making these wishes come true.  In their fight to overcome their illnesses, they know that such experiences are a source of joy, encouragement, hope and even strength, to these children.

Working towards these wishes are over 200 volunteers, 10 board members and 6 staff.  Their combined efforts, coupled with the support of their sponsors and supporters bring them closer to that goal every day.

Colours of Odyssey, ART from the Heart
Where it all comes together- the mind, heart and hands

‘Colours of Odyssey, ART from the Heart’ is an exhibition that presented a glimpse of the beauty and wonders of nature through the eyes of children. It showcased the important role the arts can play to promote children’s creativity and imagination. Drawing on nature as its thematic focus, the exhibition explored the relationship between art in nature and nature in art. The children were challenged to integrate both art and nature in innovative ways. The exhibition brought together artwork from children ranging from complex, colourful collages to simple sketches and paintings.

The ‘Colours of Odyssey, ART from the Heart’ project was undertaken by the children and educators at Odyssey – The Global Preschool, in their continued efforts to support community partnership and encourage the spirit of giving. They also learnt about their capacities as philanthropists. This exhibition was organised as a charity event and 80% of the proceeds generated from the sale of the children’s masterpieces were given to the Make-a-Wish Foundation Singapore.

‘Colours of Odyssey, ART from the Heart’ was inaugurated by Guest of Honour, Mr Sun Yu Li at Odyssey Fourth Avenue on Saturday, 26 June. After the launch, the exhibition was held at the two other Odyssey campuses – Wilkinson and Alexandra, where the artwork were meticulously selected and curated. This art exhibition served as a platform to promote the creative intuitiveness of children and create an appreciation for their efforts.
