Professional Development

As the regional learning hub and research lab for early childhood education, Odyssey serves as the model for inspiring educators into rethinking and reinventing their educational philosophies, and to continue to innovate in their teaching practices.

The focus on early childhood research has brought about increased recognition of the importance of quality education in a child’s early years. This has undoubtedly raised the standards of education for infants and preschoolers and impacted the qualifications of educators involved.

At Odyssey, we believe in continually supporting educational research and programme development. These will enable us to stay ahead of new developments and maintain a leading edge in our curriculum and pedagogy.

The Odyssey environment also promotes a culture of research where our educators are engaged in the process of reflective teaching practices, curriculum planning for individualised programmes for children, team-teaching including peer coaching and mentoring, and observation, interpretation and documentation of the teaching and learning processes.

Odyssey provides a richly-resourced environment accessible to interested professionals, educators and students to conduct research on educational practices. State-of-the art facilities integrating technologies involving computers, scanners, video cameras, one-way mirrors, CCTV and online documentation applications are present in our learning labs to facilitate professional observations, data collection, analyses and documentation.

In addition to research, Odyssey also provides the setting that supports efforts in curriculum development, experimentation and piloting of new curriculum practices in ECE.
